NEBLSA upholds the mission and purpose of the organization by conducting programming related to our goals: increase the number of culturally responsible Black and minority attorneys who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. We facilitate these goals through our leadership retreats, academic retreats, professional mixers, panels and workshops, moot court/mock trial competitions, and our annual conventions.
Preparing the Next Generation
Our Pre-Law division works in connection with local chapters to provide opportunities for college and high-school students who are interested in pursuing a career in the legal field. The pre-law division conducts programming to provide students with relevant information with regard to law school applications, scholarship opportunities, and mentor/mentee relationships.
Education and Engagement
Agents of Change
In line with our 2018 - 2019 commitment to becoming agents of change in our respective communities, NEBLSA has partnered with the Earn Our Votes initiative to engage and educate members of the community about their voting rights and to lift the concerns of the most vulnerable in society to those that have been entrusted to represent them.
Doing What’s Needed
NEBLSA believes that it is our responsibility as leaders of our communities to actively engage with and provide for the needs of our community. Along with becoming agents of change, our goals for the year include raising awareness for environmental issues that plague communities of color, providing "words of encouragement" to public school students, and continuing to provide "hands on" effort to our local communities.
Pre-Law and Alumni Initiatives
Doing What’s Needed
Through our Community Development, we have the potential to make a real and positive change in the community. This is one of our key areas of focus here at Northeast Black Law Students Association, and a source of much success for our Non-Profit.
